Madame Leota Takes Over: New Haunted Mansion Street Party Replaces the Frightfully Fun Parade
An institution has vanished from Oogie Boogie Bash. In place of the Frightfully Fun Parade comes "Madame Leota's Swinging Wake" – a street party with a séance, dancing spirits and the Headless Horseman. The event runs through October 31.
Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure has its biggest programme change in years: the Frightfully Fun Parade is gone.
Replacing it is "Madame Leota's Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party", which Disney describes as a street party "full of show-stopping moments and ghoulishly good times inspired by the beloved Haunted Mansion attraction."

What happens
Madame Leota anchors the show, hosting her séance at several points along the route amid dancing spirits and the attraction's happy haunts. At select times Ichabod Crane also appears, pursued by the Headless Horseman. Disney's framing: guests are invited to summon "all 999 ghosts."
A new Nightmare Before Christmas-themed dessert party is available as a paid add-on, with reserved viewing.

A break with tradition
The Frightfully Fun Parade had been part of the event since its earliest days, back when it ran as Mickey's Halloween Party. Losing it is more than swapping one show for another: for many regulars the parade was the fixed point the evening was built around.
The move from parade to street party reflects a broader shift across Disney parks. Street parties pull the audience in, need less elaborate float infrastructure and slot more flexibly into an evening. Whether that compensates for losing a parade is a question fans will keep arguing over.

Dates and context
Oogie Boogie Bash runs on select nights from August 18 to October 31, 2026 – 33 nights in total. Tickets went on sale June 18, and individual dates typically sell out early.
Alongside it, Halloween Time runs August 21 to October 31 resort-wide with no separate ticket, including the Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween, Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark overlays at Disney California Adventure, plus Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland Park.
Plaza de la Familia, the resort's Día de los Muertos celebration, runs slightly longer, from August 21 to November 2, with mariachi performances and a memory wall for guest tributes.
