Slinky Dog Dash Down: Hollywood Studios Coaster Closed Indefinitely

Anyone visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios right now has to do without one of the park's headline attractions. Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land has been out of service since late August 2026 and, as of September 2, had been fully closed for a third consecutive day. No reopening date has been given.

A train stopped on the track

The run of problems began with extended downtime during operating hours. In early September things escalated: a ride vehicle came to a halt at the coaster's second launch and remained visible out on the track. Photos also showed an open electrical panel in the area, pointing to work on the ride's electrical systems. Disney has not stated an official cause.

Cast Members on site could offer guests neither a reason nor a timeline, saying only that they expected the attraction to remain closed the following day as well. To keep waiting guests occupied, team members were out on the walkway in front of the coaster with oversized Pixar balls and hula hoops.

What it means for visitors

Slinky Dog Dash is among the highest-demand attractions on the entire Walt Disney World property and a staple of both rope-drop strategies and Lightning Lane planning. With it down, crowd pressure shifts noticeably onto the rest of the park. Guests holding a timed selection should check the attraction status in the My Disney Experience app first thing in the morning before heading to Toy Story Land.

Whether this is a short repair or a longer technical intervention remains open. No scheduled refurbishment had been announced for this period – the closure was unplanned.
